*sigh* >< this is my second tutorial, the first that I've posted.....I'm very confused as to why in the tut category there is only categories for computer programs. as if one cannot give a tutorial in painting or drawing with traditional media? What the hell.
I made this in response to my very good friend, Katie Nonemaker, who is getting a full set of prismacolor markers for her high school graduation gift. Since prismacolor markers are my medium of choice, and because she's only really used watercolor and colored pencil up until now, I decided to make a tutorial. This is an original character....as you can see, I like this hairstyle a lot, but rest assured, it's not me. ^^. Though there's something to be said about making all your characters dress like you....hmmm....it's more like I dress like my characters, actually. Anyways, this tutorial is geared towards prismacolor marker on drawing paper. Hopefully somebody will learn something....
Oh yeah. The cute anime eyes are not my typical style, but they're easier to talk about than what I normally do, so on they go.
wow pretty interesting how it all comes together :3

It's incredible to see how much better the last frame is than the third! And the third one was already good. I still suck at markers (Because I'm a slow learner and very clumsy) but I'm getting a bit better at shadows! ^___^

What the heck can you even say in these things?
Wow...I didn't know we did the shadows first. I thought we had to do the colors first, make room for lighting left as white, then gradually fill in darker colors.
You can do anything you want, honestly. This is just the way I do it. The reason I do it that way is because I want to get a good sense of form going before I start thinking about color---and form is only form when there's an interplay of light and dark.
