This was done during a crit. I was using two kindof crappy pens; one a dying brush pen.
I wonder sometimes if people think my petit obsession with Edward is a sexual one---that's usually the first conclusion one would come to, right? But if it is, then it must be a very minor part of my interest. Edward fascinates me as a concept, an idea---a primitive victorian artificial man, closer to the era of Asimov than of Masamune Shiro or CLAMP. Despite the primitive technology used to piece him together, Edward is exquisitely sensitive and responsive, practically to the point of autism. For me, Edward walks the line between man and machine, death and life. He exists in an in-between state, unfinished and verging on the twilight of conciousness. Parts of him are beautifully complete, his face and hair for example, and his mind, but the rest of him hurredly put together from the mind of an aging eccentric. Imagine living such a detatched and cerebral life for as long as your materials allow for. There exists a tremendous potential in Edward for contemplation, and I enjoy indulging in these possibilities as a writer and as an artist.
been a while since I visited your gallery (so busy!) but I love this new Edward piece; I cannot think of a good description word- but it is very human somehow; even though he is made of mechanical parts;it is a little sad feeling too, but I love it.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
